Submitting website to several search engines.

1. Yandex. Go to http://www.yandex.ru/yandsearch. Click the Help link. On the right here's a lonely link to For Webmaster. There, in the category Questions and Answers (FAQ) follow the first link - Add URL. We'll get to page http://webmaster.yandex.ru/. You can either add your URL, or by clicking on the My Sites (at the end of the upper row of links, with a red mark) sign up and add URL of your site there. The latter action does not affect how quickly or thoroughly your site will be indexed, but you get access to additional information about your sites (the list of indexed pages, the dates of robots' visits, errors, etc.). In the FAQ, be sure to take a look at webmaster's tips. Sitemap as Yandex understands it: a page or multiple pages that contain links to all documents of your site.

2. Google. In order to add the address of your site go to http://www.google.com/ -> About Google -> Submit your content to Google (look for yellow highlighted rectangle) -> Submit a URL, or go to Webmaster Central -> Webmaster Tools (including Sitemaps), after registration getting access to somewhat useful tools and help files (by the way, now also in Russian). Accepts XML Sitemaps.

3. Rambler. Registration for Rambler search engine, here you must fill in a registration form, which will guarantee that the Rambler's robots will know about your site and start its indexation as soon as possible.

4. Yahoo! Submit a Website or Webpage, after entering the information in the first text box click Submit URL. Yahoo! has Site Explorer Tool, where, if registered, you will be given an opportunity to submit your XML Sitemap, remove unwanted URLs from the Yahoo!'s index page, find out the date of the robots' last visit and the language of the page. By the way, now there appeared YAHOO! in Russian.

5. MSN. Presented Webmaster Tools (beta), you must register in order to use it; accepts XML Sitemaps.

6. Submission to web directories. In addition to search engines, there are directories - sites, which are represented by something like huge collection of links and structured according to a subject (usually from broad to specific). The best known are Yahoo! Directory (submission fee required) and Open Directory (Google Directory; the review of submission request may take a considerable period of time, search engines and portals that are using the directory's data: Aport, Rambler, Yandex, AltaVista, A9, AOL, Clusty, Gigablast, Google, MSN, Yahoo).

And I hope that if you've read this chapter, you at least will not have reasons to complain about absence of your site in search engines' resulting pages.
